Recipe and method of preparation
This is the
recipe and method of preparation of
Shapala also known as Abari
Ingredients:
- 2-3 cups of fresh corn
- 6-7 fresh red pepper(atarodo)
- Palm Oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 medium onions
- Dry Fish
- Seasoning
- Moi Moi leaves and sticks
- Salt to taste
Method of Preparation
- Wash corn and grind it into a paste
- Grind all other ingredients except dry fish
- Add seasoning and mix well
- Add everything to the corn paste and mix well
- Place moi-moi leaves sticks at the bottom of large pot and add enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil
- Wrap the corn mixture in moi-moi leaves, adding pieces of fish to each wrap.
- Place wraps carefully on the sticks.
- cover and steam on medium fire for 30 minutes
- You will know when it is done when you percieve the aroma and the moi moi leaves turn pale green. Turn off the fire and allow to cool.
- The meal is ready.
