Recipe and method of preparation of Drawing pottage(Koko alayo)
This is the recipe and steps you need to prepare drawing pottage.
Ingredients:
- 12-15 fresh cocoyams(the type that draws when cooked)
- About two cups of palm kernel
- Dry fish
- 2 cloves garlic
- Cray fish
- 7-8 rodo(fresh round peppers)
- 1 bunch Efirin leaves
- seasoning
- Salt
Method of preparation
- Boil cocoyams at least 20-30 minutes. Allow to cool before peeling by hand. Keep aside.
- Boil palm kernel until soft enough to remove the oily juice. Strain the oily juice into the a cooking pot.
- Blend the rodo and garlic. Cut up Efirin leaves.
- Add all to the palm kernel oily juice. Add seasoning and mix well. Taste for salt and add if desired. Cook for about 5 minutes.
- Add the sause mixture to the already boiled and peeled cocoyam. Mix all.
- The meal is ready.
